Description

First-Class Travel Through Era IV – Brawa 58181 H0 Express Train Car Aüm 203, DB, with Interior Lighting

The Brawa 58181 H0 Express Train Car Aüm 203, DB, Era IV brings classic DB comfort from the 1970s right to your H0 layout. This model, featuring built-in interior lighting (LED), combines scale-accurate design, historical authenticity, and meticulous technical detail—a true highlight for enthusiasts of German express trains from the Bundesbahn era.

A car from the golden age of long-distance rail travel

With the road number 51 80 10-40 237-9, the Aüm 203 is precisely assigned to a car of the Deutsche Bundesbahn from Era IV. As part of the Group 53 car family, it was intended for use on high-end express and F-trains. The length over buffers is 303 mm, and the model is built to an exact scale of 1:87—perfect for any realistically designed train formation from the 1970s and 1980s.

Technical Highlights & Fine Details

The car impresses with a multitude of finely crafted components: scale-accurate windows, a spring-loaded rubber bead at the car transition, attached steps and handrails, as well as a butt-welded roof design. The G150-type alternator is reproduced in detail, as are the additionally mounted bogies (Type 094/096). The LED interior lighting provides atmospheric lighting inside the car right from the factory.

Comfort just like the original

The period-accurate interior furnishings reflect the high standard of first-class travel at that time. Ideal for use in classic F-trains or as part of international express trains from the 1970s. The model is also compatible with the electric coupler from the BRAWA lineup and features NEM-compliant close-coupling kinematics.

The prototype: The Aüm 203 of Group 53

Group 53 was a milestone in the development of long-distance passenger trains by the Deutsche Bundesbahn. Produced in series starting in 1955, these cars offered not only increased comfort but also technical innovations such as wider transfer windows and modular interior designs. The dark blue Aüm 203s shaped the image of the F-trains for decades—many even survived into the 1990s or continued to operate in museum service.

For model railroaders with an eye for style and history

With the Brawa 58181 Aüm 203, you’ll add a fully equipped model of exceptional visual and technical quality to your layout. Ideal for anyone who wants to recreate classic DB express trains with the authentic flair of Era IV—now also featuring factory-installed LED interior lighting.
