Description

Classic express train car for your H0 layout – Brawa 58186 H0 Büm 234, DB, Era IV

The Brawa 58186 H0 Büm 234 Express Train Car, DB, Era IV embodies the typical 2nd-class long-distance train car of the Deutsche Bundesbahn from the 1970s. With a high level of detail, true-to-scale proportions, and pre-wired for interior lighting, this model is the ideal addition to your prototypical Era IV express train set.

True to the prototype in form and function

The car bears the road number 51 80 22-41 017-0 and was developed as part of the DB’s Group 53 car family. With a length over buffers of 303 mm and built to the exact 1:87 (H0) scale, the Büm 234 can be realistically integrated into F-trains, D-trains, or international connections from the 1970s and 1980s.

Fine technical details for maximum authenticity

The features include scale-accurate windows, corrugated wheel discs on both sides (Type 094/096), a separately attached G150-type alternator on the bogie, and a spring-loaded rubber bead at the transition. Attached steps and handrails as well as the typical butt-welded roof round out the appearance.

Interior & Lighting Prepared

The period-accurate interior furnishings of 2nd class are included in the model; the LED interior lighting is prepared and can be easily retrofitted. The NEM-compliant close-coupling mechanism ensures realistic car spacing—even on tighter curves. The car is also compatible with the BRAWA electric coupler.

The Prototype: Comfort for the Masses

The Büm 234 is based on the B4ümg-54 cars, which were introduced as “passenger cars for the people.” For the first time, these cars offered only three seats per bench, which meant significantly more comfort for second-class passengers. For decades, these cars were an indispensable part of long-distance rail service—they defined the look of DB trains well into the 1990s.

For prototypical express trains of Era IV

Whether in domestic F-trains or international passenger service—the Brawa 58186 Büm 234 express train car offers you an ideal foundation for creating authentic Deutsche Bundesbahn train runs. High-quality in both design and appearance, perfectly suited for your Era IV layout.
