Description

Atmospherically Lit – Brawa 58190 H0 Express Train Car Büm 234, DB, Era IV, DC with LED Interior Lighting

The Brawa 58190 H0 Büm 234 Express Train Car, DB, Era IV brings the classic express train comfort of the Deutsche Bundesbahn directly to your DC layout—complete with factory-installed LED interior lighting. Perfect for model railroaders who want to realistically recreate F or D trains from the 1970s and 1980s.

Historically accurate and true to the prototype

With the road number 51 80 22-41 178-0, this car is a typical representative of the Büm 234 type—pure DB second-class long-distance passenger cars derived from the Wagengruppe 53 series. The length over buffers is 303 mm, rendered in 1:87 (H0) scale, ideal for Era IV express train sets.

Fully equipped—with interior lighting

The warm-white LED interior lighting is factory-installed and adds atmosphere to nighttime journeys and station scenes. The era-appropriate interior furnishings of 2nd class, scale-accurate windows, and a spring-loaded rubber bead at the car transition ensure additional authenticity.

Technical Details & High-Quality Features

Wheel sets of the Type 094/096 with corrugated wheel discs, a separately attached G150-type alternator, as well as attached steps and handrails reflect the high level of detail. The roof is modeled as a butt-welded design. The car features NEM-compliant close-coupling kinematics and is compatible with the BRAWA electric coupler.

The prototype: Büm 234 – the DB’s comfortable 2nd-class car

Starting in the mid-1950s, the Büm 234-type cars offered improved seating comfort in second class for the first time and became a mainstay of DB’s long-distance service. Their elegant dark blue paint scheme, spacious windows, and smooth ride made them popular on F and D trains—many remained in service well into the 1990s.

For discerning DC model railroaders with a focus on Era IV

The Brawa 58190 Büm 234 impresses with technical sophistication, historical accuracy, and ready-to-run lighting—a must-have for anyone who wants to run realistic Deutsche Bundesbahn express trains on their H0 layout.
