With the Brawa 58273 H0 Bm 235 Express Train Car of the Deutsche Bundesbahn, you can bring a piece of railroad history right onto your model railroad layout. This Era V model impresses with built-in LED interior lighting, finely detailed features, and an exact reproduction of the Bm 235 design—perfect for discerning model railroad enthusiasts who value historical authenticity and technical sophistication.
This express train car is built for H0 gauge and has a length over buffers of 303 mm. It is designed for the 2-wire direct current (DC) system and equipped with LED interior lighting. The model is not digital and features a solderable interface. The features correspond in every respect to Era V and realistically reflect the condition of the cars in InterCity service.
The car impresses with its scale-accurate reproduction of the windows and an period-accurate interior. Particularly striking are the separately attached steps and handrails as well as the butt-welded roof sections, which lend the model a great sense of visual depth. The sprung rubber beads at the car junctions and the separately mounted generator on the bogie underscore the attention to detail. Thanks to the NEM coupler socket and close-coupling kinematics, the car can be easily integrated into existing train sets.
A special highlight of this model is the pre-installed LED interior lighting, which not only creates an atmospheric display on the layout but also allows the car to be used in the dark. The use of disc-braked 093-type wheel sets contributes to realistic driving dynamics. The model is also compatible with the electric coupler from the BRAWA lineup, which opens up additional control options.
The car is based on the Bm 235 model, which was developed starting in 1979 as part of the Deutsche Bundesbahn’s InterCity ’79 program. To implement the new “Every Hour, Every Class” schedule, existing Bm 234 cars were modified. In addition to being equipped with disc and magnetic track brakes, they were also fitted with Type 093 wheel sets. Between 1979 and the early 2000s, these cars were in service on IC routes and later on InterRegio routes—most recently even in painted ICE liveries.
Thanks to its standardized technology, the car integrates perfectly into existing H0 train sets. The close-coupling mechanism ensures tight car alignment, and the LED lighting makes it an eye-catcher both day and night. This car is particularly well-suited for model railroappers who wish to recreate Era V scenes featuring IC trains or InterRegio service.
