Brawa 58274 H0 express train car Bm 235, DB, Ep. V, AC-Innenbeleuchtung Product Details

Description

Are you looking for an LED-lit express train car for your AC system?

The Brawa 58274 H0 Deutsche Bundesbahn Bm 235 express train car is the perfect addition for model railroaders who use 3-wire AC and want the highest level of prototypical accuracy. With built-in LED interior lighting, exquisite details, and an authentic Era V design, this model brings the true InterCity flair of the late 1980s and 1990s to your layout.

Model Information & Technical Data

The model is built to scale for H0 gauge (1:87) and measures 303 mm over the buffers. Designed for operation on a 3-wire AC system, it features built-in LED interior lighting that impressively highlights the interior of the car. The technical features include a solderable interface and a NEM-compliant coupler well with close-coupling kinematics.

Exquisite detailing for discerning model railroading enthusiasts

The car impresses with its scale-accurate window layout and period-correct interior. Special attention should be paid to the separately attached steps and handrails, which lend the model additional depth and realism. The spring-loaded rubber bumpers at the car transitions and the separately attached generator on the bogie contribute to the perfect reproduction of the prototype. The appearance is rounded out by a butt-welded roof—a characteristic feature of this car type.

Technically impressive – with factory-installed lighting

A highlight of this model is the factory-installed LED interior lighting, which creates atmospheric scenes, especially during evening or night operations. The disc-braked wheel sets of the 093 type offer a true-to-prototype appearance and excellent running characteristics. In addition, the car is compatible with the electric coupler from the BRAWA range —ideal for continuous control functions in digital operation.

Background of the prototype: DB InterCity cars

The Bm 235 type was introduced in 1979 as part of the Deutsche Bundesbahn’s InterCity ’79 program. To implement the slogan “Every hour, every class,” existing Bm 234-type cars were technically modified—including the installation of disc and magnetic track brakes as well as 093-type wheel sets. These modernized cars defined high-quality long-distance service well into the 2000s and were deployed in various color schemes—ranging from ocean blue and beige to IC brand colors, a light gray and traffic red design, and even ICE livery.

Flexible for use on AC layouts

Thanks to its AC design, this car is ideal for all Märklin-compatible model rail layouts. With its close-coupling mechanism, it integrates seamlessly into IC or InterRegio train sets. The LED lighting not only enhances the model but also creates impressive scenes on your layout. Model railroaders with a focus on Era V will particularly get their money’s worth here.
