The Brawa 58275 H0 Bm 235 Express Train Car of the Deutsche Bundesbahn brings the authentic InterCity atmosphere of the late 1980s and 1990s right to your model railroad layout. This model impresses with its precise detailing, a prototypical interior, and the typical features of the Bm 235 class—ideal for model railroaders with high standards for accuracy and quality.
Manufactured for H0 gauge (1:87) and with a length over buffers of 303 mm, this model is perfectly suited for all standard DC layouts. It is based on the 2-wire DC system and is not digitally controlled. The interior lighting is pre-wired and can be retrofitted if desired. A close-coupling mechanism and the NEM-compliant coupler shaft ensure compatibility and safe operation on your layout.
The scale-accurate reproduction of the windows and the period-accurate interior make this express train car a real eye-catcher. Particularly striking are the sprung rubber beads at the car transition and the butt-welded roofs, which correspond exactly to the prototype. Separately attached steps and handrails as well as a separately mounted generator on the bogie underscore the high-quality overall impression.
The car features disc-braked wheel sets of type 093 and is compatible with the electric coupler from the BRAWA lineup. The combination of technical features and visual details makes this car a reliable and visually compelling addition to any realistically designed Era V train set.
The Bm 235 class was developed starting in 1979 from modified Bm 234 class cars. As part of the Deutsche Bundesbahn’s InterCity ’79 program, they were equipped with, among other things, disc and magnetic track brakes, Type 093 wheel sets, and modified damping systems. A total of 721 cars were converted and subsequently put into service on InterCity routes—and later on InterRegio routes as well. Their color schemes were updated several times: from ocean blue and beige to IC brand colors, and eventually to light gray and traffic red, as well as ICE liveries.
Thanks to its standardized technology, the car is ideally suited for use in DC layouts. With its pre-wired interior lighting, the car can be easily upgraded—perfect for realistic day and night scenes. The car pairs particularly well with other Bm 235 cars or typical Deutsche Bundesbahn locomotives from Era V.
