Description

Are you looking for a DR baggage car with LED interior lighting for your Era IV layout?

The Brawa 58311 H0 DR (Deutsche Reichsbahn) Dge baggage car combines high modeling precision with modern technology. With built-in LED interior lighting, a solderable interface, and the finest detailing, this baggage car is an excellent choice for realistic express train sets from the 1970s and 1980s.

Model Information & Technical Specifications

The model is built to a 1:87 scale for H0 gauge and measures 249.70 mm over the buffers. It is designed for 2-wire direct current (DC) operation and is equipped with factory-installed LED interior lighting as well as a solderable interface. The NEM-compliant coupler housing with close-coupling kinematics enables realistic and reliable couplings.

Prototype-accurate design—perfectly executed

With side walls and a roof design specific to this variant, the model corresponds exactly to the Era IV version. Metal axle holders, prototypical axle bearing caps, brake shoes at wheel level, separately attached axle brake linkage, and a multi-part brake system reflect the model’s high quality. The fully reproduced vehicle floor, along with the fine printing and paint finish, round out the harmonious overall appearance.

Factory-installed LED interior lighting—for atmospheric displays

The integrated LED lighting makes the car a real eye-catcher in nighttime operation or display window scenes. The solderable interface allows for future technical upgrades. The close-coupling mechanism enables tight car transitions—ideal for densely packed train sets.

Historical Prototype: Baggage Cars in Everyday DR Service

The Dge is based on the original Pw4ü designs of the DRB and remained in service for a long time with the Deutsche Reichsbahn of the GDR. During Era IV, the cars were assigned new road numbers according to the UIC system—such as 50 50 92-13 360-0 shown here—and remained an integral part of the baggage car fleet in express train service well into the 1980s.

For all model railroaders focused on the DR in Era IV

Whether in long-distance service, international through-car service, or on branch lines—this illuminated baggage car impresses with its level of detail, technical features, and high operational reliability. A true highlight for any DR train set from the late GDR era.
