Brawa 58315 H0 Passenger Car Aüe 310, DB, Era III Product Details

Description

Are you looking for an elegant DB express passenger car for your Era III layout?

The Brawa 58315 H0 Passenger Car Aüe 310 of the Deutsche Bundesbahn brings the iconic design of the so-called “apron cars” to your model railroad layout in a scale-accurate version. This passenger car, featuring pre-wired interior lighting, fine detailing, and realistic features, is a true highlight for all enthusiasts of the Bundesbahn era from Era III through the transition to Era IV.

Model Information & Technical Specifications

The model is designed in 1:87 scale for H0 gauge and measures 244 mm over buffers. It is designed for the 2-wire direct current (DC) system and features pre-wired interior lighting. Thanks to the NEM-compliant coupler housing with close-coupling kinematics, the car can be integrated into train formations realistically and reliably.

Detailing & Technical Features

The car impresses with numerous added details such as metal axle supports, prototype-accurate axle bearing caps, brake shoes at wheel level, as well as separately applied axle brake linkage and a multi-part brake system. The variant-specific interior layout as well as the complete reproduction of the vehicle floor make this car a real eye-catcher, even from underneath the frame.

Historical Background: The Era of Skirted Cars

Class 39 was introduced in the late 1930s and marked the beginning of modern express train service in Germany. The smooth exterior walls, flush windows, and signature frame skirts were designed to reduce air turbulence and enhance comfort. After the war, many cars remained in West Germany and were initially used by the DB on the F-train network and later on regular D-trains. Until the mid-1970s, these cars defined the look of long-distance trains before they were taken out of active service or transferred to military and reserve fleets.

For classic DB train formations in Epochs III–IV

This Aüe 310 is ideal for depicting high-quality postwar express or rapid trains. It can be perfectly combined with other cars of the “Schürze” design or used in mixed train sets with converted and “m” cars. A must-have for collectors, model railroaders, and fans of the classic DB era.
