Description

Are you looking for a stylish skirted car with LED interior lighting for your Era III layout?

The Brawa 58316 H0 passenger car Aüe 310 of the Deutsche Bundesbahn authentically brings the elegance and technology of the Type 39 skirted car to your model railroad layout. With factory-installed LED interior lighting, a solderable interface, and a multitude of intricate details, this car is ideal for high-quality express train formations from the 1950s through the 1970s.

Model Information & Technical Specifications

Manufactured in 1:87 scale for H0 gauge, the model measures 244 mm over buffers and is designed for 2-wire direct current (DC) operation. The LED interior lighting is factory-installed, and the solderable interface allows for technical upgrades. Thanks to the NEM-compliant coupler housing and close-coupling kinematics, the car can be easily and realistically integrated into train sets.

Detailing & Technical Execution at the Highest Level

Equipped with metal axle holders, prototypical axle bearing caps, brake shoes at wheel level, separately attached axle brake linkage, and a multi-part brake system, the model meets the highest standards. The variant-specific interior layout and the complete reproduction of the car floor guarantee exact fidelity to the prototype—even when viewed in detail.

Background on the Prototype: The Era of Skirted Cars

Type 39 was the last major pre-war design for express train service. With their aerodynamic skirts, flush windows, and exterior entry doors, these cars set new standards. After the war, the DB initially used the surviving cars on the F-train network and later increasingly on D-trains. The Aüe cars remained in service until the mid-1970s and were ultimately part of the reserve fleet for military and troop transport.

A classic for high-quality train formations

This skirted car is ideal for model railroad representations of DB trains from the 1950s through the 1970s. It combines excellently with other Type 39 vehicles as well as with converted cars or “m” cars. The pre-installed LED lighting creates atmospheric effects during nighttime operation or when displayed in glass cases.
