Brawa 58318 H0 Passenger Car ABüe 336, DB, Era III Product Details

Description

Are you looking for a classically elegant DB express train car for your Era III layout?

The Brawa 58318 H0 ABüe 336 passenger car of the Deutsche Bundesbahn brings the typical style of the “Schürzenwagen” (apron cars) to your model railroad layout with precise model detailing. With pre-wired interior lighting, numerous attached details, and a design faithful to the original, this car is a highlight for all fans of classic DB express trains from the 1950s through the 1970s.

Model Information & Technical Specifications

The model is designed in 1:87 scale for H0 gauge and measures 244 mm over buffers. It is designed for 2-wire direct current (DC) operation and is not digitally controlled. The interior lighting is pre-wired and can be retrofitted. Thanks to the NEM-compliant coupler housing with close-coupling kinematics, the car can be realistically integrated into train formations.

Detailing & Technical Implementation

The ABüe 336 features numerous finely rendered details such as metal axle brackets, prototype-accurate axle bearing caps, brake shoes at wheel level, separately attached axle brake linkage, and a multi-part brake system. The variant-specific interior layout as well as the fully replicated underside make the model an authentic representation of the prototype, even when viewed up close.

Background on the Prototype: Express-train comfort with a skirt

Class 39 was developed as an evolution of Class 35 to meet the growing demand for fast and comfortable long-distance travel. The characteristic skirt on the undersides of the cars was designed to reduce air resistance. After the war, many cars continued to operate in West Germany and were refurbished for the new F-train network. Starting in the mid-1950s, the DB increasingly deployed them on regular D-trains. It wasn’t until the mid-1970s that the last cars of this type were finally taken out of service.

Ideal for high-quality train sets from Era III

The Brawa ABüe 336 is ideal for combining with other skirted cars, converted cars, or early DB “m” cars. Whether as part of a 1950s express train or in a D-train set from the early 1970s—this model offers historical authenticity and the highest model-building quality for sophisticated layouts.
