Model Information & Technical Data

This locomotive is designed for N gauge (1:160 scale) and measures 100 mm over the buffers. It is designed for operation on 2-wire direct current (DC). A Next18 interface enables easy digitalization. The locomotive is not factory-digitized or equipped with sound, but can be retrofitted accordingly.

Technical Features & Lighting Functions

Equipped with a 5-pole motor and drive on all axles, the locomotive offers optimal traction. The headlight changes between white and red depending on the direction of travel and is implemented with long-lasting LED technology. Additionally, the locomotive features cab lighting and a tail light —for added realism in layout operation. The minimum curve radius is 192 mm.

Historical Prototype: The DB V160 Family

A total of 214 Class 216 (formerly V160) locomotives were delivered to the Deutsche Bundesbahn by various manufacturers between 1964 and 1968. It was the first medium-duty mainline diesel locomotive with a single engine and an output of 1,400 kW. Originally intended for both freight and passenger service, it was later used primarily in freight transport. The last units were taken out of service by 2004. Some units were preserved or transferred to the fleets of private railway companies—including the 216 143-8, which has been faithfully reproduced here.
