The Brawa 65090 N WRge dining car of the Deutsche Reichsbahn impresses with its true-to-scale design, detailed bogies, and a multicolored interior. The typical features of this DR car type from the 1970s are superbly reproduced—ideal for realistic express and passenger train formations in N gauge.
The model is designed for N gauge (1:160 scale) and measures 116.90 mm over the buffers. It is designed for the 2-wire direct current (DC) system and is not digitally controlled. The model is pre-wired for interior lighting, allowing for easy retrofitting. Equipped with NEM-compliant close-coupling mechanism, the car ensures realistic car transitions during operation.
The WRge is equipped with detailed “Görlitz V” type bogies. The window frames are printed and the windows are installed to scale. The multi-colored interior underscores the high level of detail. The car transition is reproduced with a separately attached rubber bead—another typical feature of this generation of vehicles.
Starting in 1963, the Halberstadt Raw began manufacturing the new DR passenger cars, initially based on older underframes. From the mid-1960s onward, the cars were built entirely from new parts, including the WRge dining cars. With their modernized “Görlitz V” undercarriage and a length of 18.7 m, they were found on many DR express trains—including on routes to the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Brawa WRge is the perfect addition for all model railroaders who want to recreate typical GDR long-distance trains from Era IV. Combined with matching Bghw cars and DR locomotives, it creates a cohesive picture of the travel culture of that era.
