The Brawa 65091 N Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) WRge dining car is a true-to-prototype model from the 1970s featuring the finest detailing. Equipped with scale-accurate windows, printed window frames, multi-color painted interior, and a separately attached rubber bead at the car joint, it is an ideal addition to classic DR train sets.
The model is designed for N gauge (1:160) and measures 116.90 mm over the buffers. It is based on the 2-wire direct current (DC) system and is not digitally controlled. It is prepared for interior lighting, which can be retrofitted if desired. The NEM-compliant close-coupling mechanism ensures reliable operation and realistic car spacing.
The car features detailed “Görlitz V” bogies, a key characteristic of vehicles from the RAW Halberstadt. Window frames are printed, and the windows are precisely fitted. The multicolored interior design underscores the comfort standards of this car class. The separately attached rubber bead at the car joint lends the model additional authenticity.
These cars were built starting in 1963 as new constructions at the RAW Halberstadt plant and were used on DR express trains from the mid-1960s onward—including on international routes to the Federal Republic of Germany. With a length of 18.7 m and modern bogies, they were state-of-the-art for their time. The road number 51 50 88-15 048-4 represents a typical example of this series in the 1980s.
Combined with Bghw cars and DR locomotives, the WRge creates a harmonious passenger train set for Era IV. Ideal for anyone who wants to enhance their N-scale layout with authentic rolling stock from the GDR era.
