The Brawa 65093 N Passenger Car Bghw of the Deutsche Reichsbahn is a typical example of the Halberstadt express train cars from the 1970s and 1980s. With finely detailed “Görlitz V” bogies, scale-accurate windows, multi-colored interior paint scheme and pre-wired interior lighting, it is ideal for realistic train sets in Era IV.
The model is designed for N gauge (1:160 scale) and measures 116.90 mm over the buffers. It is intended for operation with 2-wire direct current (DC) and is not digitally controlled. The interior lighting is pre-wired and can be easily retrofitted. Thanks to NEM-standard close-coupling kinematics, the car is ideally suited for tight train formations with realistic car spacing.
The car features printed window frames, precisely fitted windows, and a separately attached rubber bead at the car joint. The interior is painted in multiple colors, which further underscores the high-quality overall impression. The Görlitz V-type bogies are true to the original and finely detailed with attached components.
Between 1963 and 1977, over 3,000 Bghwe-type cars were built at the RAW Halberstadt plant—including the Bghw shown here with the road number 57 50 28-13 190-3. For decades, these 18.7-meter-long cars defined the landscape of DR long-distance and commuter rail service and remained in service well into the 1990s. After reunification, a few examples were still used by the DBAG or in museum trains.
When combined with other Bghw cars, WRge dining cars, or DR locomotives such as the BR 110, 118, or 132, this car forms the perfect foundation for typical DR passenger trains of Era IV—whether in express or local service.
