The Brawa 65095 N passenger car Bdghws of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) is a distinctive combined-purpose car, as found on many express and commuter trains in the GDR starting in the 1970s. With detailed Görlitz V-bogies, multi-colored interior, and scale-accurate windows, this model offers a high degree of prototype accuracy in N gauge.
The model is built on a 1:160 scale for N gauge and measures 116.90 mm over the buffers. It is designed for 2-wire direct current (DC) operation and is not digitally controlled. The model is pre-wired for interior lighting, which can be retrofitted. The car features NEM-compliant close-coupling mechanism for reliable operation and authentic train formation.
The Bdghws features scale-accurate windows with printed frames, a multi-colored interior, and a separately attached rubber bead at the car joint. The Görlitz V bogies are finely detailed and precisely modeled after the prototype—a hallmark of quality in Brawa’s DR car series.
The Bdghws is based on the successful Bghwe car concept, which was produced at the Halberstadt rolling stock workshop (Raw) from 1963 to 1977. This combination of luggage and seating areas was particularly versatile and was used in both express and commuter service. The road number 57 50 82-15 006-2 shown here represents a typical example from the DR’s passenger car fleet in the 1980s.
This combination car pairs perfectly with other Bghw and WRge cars, as well as with typical DR diesel locomotives such as the BR 110, 118, or 132. A perfect addition for all model railroaders who want to realistically recreate GDR trains in N scale.
