About the model: The model of the DB Gms35 "Miele" boxcar was prototypically produced on a scale of 1:160. The wagon comes from Era III and its replica shines in a contemporary and detailed paint scheme with the finest printing. The model also impresses with finely engraved fan grilles and a prototypical brake system on the wagon arch. The car was given the road number "231 269".
About the prototype: With the beginning of the Second World War and the sharp increase in transportation tasks, the DRB suffered from a blatant shortage of cars. The only possible solution was to design new types of wagons in order to increase the load weight and load volume on the one hand and to massively reduce the necessary steel consumption on the other. As part of these efforts, the two-axle G-wagon Gmhs Bremen was built from 1943 onwards. Compared to the last design, the Ghs Oppeln, the wheelbase was extended by one meter, which increased the loading space by 5 m³. In addition, almost 2 tons of steel were saved per wagon, resulting in a tare weight of less than 10 tons. From 1943 to January 1945, a total of 7230 wagons were built. 3440 of them were equipped with a handbrake platform, which protruded over the buffers on one side, thus increasing the clearance by only 100 mm. As a result of the war, the wagons were scattered all over Europe, so that after 1945 Gmhs "Bremen" were to be found in almost all Central European countries. There was only a partial exchange of wagons between the railroads; there was no exchange at all between the later countries of the Eastern Bloc and Western Europe.
