Description

The very first journeys showed that the new locomotive not only fulfilled all expectations, but even exceeded them. The locomotive ran very smoothly even at high speeds, and the boiler always provided enough steam for the balanced four-cylinder engine. In July 1907, the record speed of 154.4 km/h was finally achieved during test runs between Munich and Augsburg. No steam locomotive on the European mainland had ever traveled faster. At the time of its commissioning and the sensational record runs of 1906, the S2/6 wore an elegant grey livery. The boiler was clad with "Russian bright plates".
