The Brawa 70127 H0 steam locomotive BR 012 of the German Federal Railroad shows the famous 012 100-4 in the condition from April 1974 - one of the last scheduled express locomotives in West Germany. Model information & technical data

The model is designed on a scale of 1:87 for H0 gauge and measures 277.50 mm over buffers. It is designed for the 3-wire alternating current system (AC) and is digitized at the factory with a sound function. The locomotive has a PluX22 interface as well as LED light change in white and interior lighting.

Technology & running characteristics

The drive is in the tender for the best tractive power and running characteristics. The connection between the locomotive and tender is made using a close coupling, and a splitter-guided NEM shaft is installed at the tender end. The model runs extremely smoothly thanks to single axle bearings made of metal and a true-to-scale wheelbase. Recommended minimum radius: from R 420 mm.

Detailing & equipment

The locomotive has oil firing, new construction cylinders, roller bearings, Atlas turntables, emergency oil shut-off rods on the tender, wheel flange lubrication pump and a high chimney with attachment. An openwork ingot frame made of die-cast zinc, spoked wheels, filigree metal driving and coupling rods as well as a detailed internal engine emphasize the high degree of prototypical fidelity.

Prototype: The 012 100-4 - DB's last steam locomotive legend

The 012 100-4 was based at Rheine depot from 1971 to 1975 and hauled express trains to Emden and Norddeich-Mole. As one of the last operational oil express locomotives, it marked the end of steam-powered trains on the DB. The locomotive was later preserved as a museum and remained operational until 2005 - an icon of Era IV.
