The Brawa 70130 H0 steam locomotive BR 01.10 of the German Federal Railroad represents the 01 1098 in the condition from 1962. With coal firing, old-style cylinders, high one-piece chimney and factory-installed digital sound, this model brings the authentic steam locomotive atmosphere of the 1960s to your DC layout.

Model information & technical data

The model is manufactured to a scale of 1:87 for H0 gauge and measures 277.50 mm over buffers. It is designed for 2-conductor direct current (DC) and is digitized at the factory including original sound. A PluX22 interface is also installed. The LED lighting includes white light changes and interior lighting for realistic operation.

Drive & technology

The drive is in the tender for excellent running characteristics. The locomotive has a close coupler between the locomotive and the tender as well as a standard guide shaft at the tender end. The single axle bearing made of metal and a true-to-scale wheelbase enable smooth running. Minimum radius: recommended from R 420 mm.

Appearance & true to the prototype

The locomotive has an openwork die-cast zinc frame, spoked wheels, filigree metal driving and coupling rods and a detailed internal engine. Further features: six sandboxes, roller bearings and the characteristic high chimney. The superstructure is made of impact-resistant plastic with a high-quality finish.

Prototype: 01 1098 - Coal under full steam

The 01 1098 was one of the last coal-fired engines of the 01.10 series and was regularly used on the Main-Weser Railway. Stationed at the Kassel depot, it retained typical old features such as old cylinders and one-piece chimney - ideally implemented in the Brawa model.
