The Brawa 70136 H0 steam locomotive S2/6 3201 is a detailed replica of the legendary express locomotive of the Royal Bavarian State Railway (K.Bay.Sts.B.) from Era I. This model impresses with its high precision and the authentic implementation of historical details that make it a highlight on any model railway layout.
The S2/6 was put into service by the Royal Bavarian State Railroad in 1906 and was considered one of the most advanced steam locomotives of its time. Even on its first journeys, it exceeded all expectations: In July 1907, it reached a record speed of 154.4 km/h during test runs between Munich and Augsburg, making it the fastest steam locomotive on the European mainland. At the time of its commissioning, the S2/6 wore an elegant grey livery, with the boiler clad in "Russian bright plates".
The Brawa company has stood for high-quality model railroads and accessories for decades. With great care and attention to detail, Brawa produces models that are both visually and technically impressive. The S2/6 3201 steam locomotive in H0 is another example of the company's commitment to authentically reproducing historical railroad vehicles while meeting the highest quality standards.
The model of the S2/6 3201 impresses with numerous finely detailed components. The boiler, chassis and tender housing are made of die-cast zinc, which ensures high stability and durability. The tender bogies are fully movable and model-specific. A close coupling between the locomotive and tender allows a prototypical distance. The slant-grooved 5-pole motor with two flywheels ensures excellent running characteristics. The finest metal spoked wheels and the detailed reproduction of the bar frame underline the high quality of this model. Numerous attached metal parts and the fine reproduction of rivets and rivet strips are evidence of the attention to detail. The cab lighting can be switched on and off in digital mode and the faithful reproduction of the boiler rear wall rounds off the authentic appearance.
The locomotive has a length over buffers of 242.9 mm and is designed for a minimum radius of 360 mm. It is equipped with a PluX22 interface and has two traction tires as well as a built-in flywheel for smooth running. The light changes as a three-light headlamp signal alternating in the direction of travel. The interior lighting is built in and the locomotive is prepared for the installation of a Seuthe No. 20 smoke generator. Spring buffers and close coupler kinematics are also included. A sound decoder is prepared and can be retrofitted.
Era I covers the period from the beginnings of the railroad to around 1920. In this era, the foundations were laid for modern rail transport and numerous technical innovations were created. The S2/6 is an outstanding example of the engineering skills of this period and reflects the pioneering spirit of early railroad development.
The Brawa 70136 H0 steam locomotive S2/6 3201 is an outstanding model that impresses with its attention to detail and technical sophistication. It is an ideal addition to any model railroad layout depicting Era I and offers both collectors and operators an authentic and fascinating railroad experience.
