Brawa 70152 H0 steam locomotive 44, DB, Ep. III Product Details

Description

Are you looking for a heavy DB freight locomotive with oil firing for your Era III layout?

The Brawa 70152 H0 steam locomotive BR 44 of the German Federal Railroad shows the well-known 44 606 in the condition from 1960 - one of the few locomotives with a circulating apron and oil tender (2'2' T34). With LED lighting, finely detailed design and PluX22 interface, this model is ideal for model railroaders looking for a powerful three-cylinder locomotive with history.

Model information & technical data

The model is made for H0 gauge (scale 1:87) and measures 261 mm over buffers. It is designed for the 2-wire direct current system (DC) and is not digitized, but is equipped with a PluX22 interface for simple decoder and sound installation. The locomotive has LED lighting with white light change and prepared interior lighting.

Running gear & technology

The drive is in the tender for the best driving characteristics. A close coupler between the locomotive and the tender as well as a standard guide shaft at the end of the tender guarantee reliable train connections. The single axle bearing in metal and the true-to-scale wheelbase enable smooth running characteristics on layouts with a minimum radius of 360 mm.

Detailing & model features

The model has an openwork bar frame and spoked wheels made of die-cast zinc. The driving wheels and coupling rods are delicately crafted from metal, the internal drive unit is movable and detailed. The locomotive has old-style cylinders, Wagner wind deflectors and is equipped with two cropped axles. The driver's cab, the boiler and the tender are made of finely detailed plastic.

Prototype: 44 606 - the oil locomotive with a circulating apron

The 44 606 was one of the few class 44 locomotives that were equipped with oil firing and a circulating apron. Stationed in the Bebra depot under the Kassel BD, it was used for heavy freight traffic on low mountain routes. The locomotive was known for its striking appearance and reliable performance in heavy train service in the 1960s.

Ideal for prototypical freight trains on the German Federal Railroad

With the class 44 606, you can bring a piece of German railroad history to your layout. The locomotive impresses with its technical quality, visual authenticity and high tractive power - a must for all steam locomotive fans of Era III.
