Description

Brawa 70179 H0 Electric locomotive EG4 20202, K.Bay.Sts.B., Ep. I - A historic highlight with modern sound

The Brawa 70179 H0 electric locomotive EG4 20202 is an impressive reproduction of one of the first and most innovative electric locomotives of the Royal Bavarian State Railways (K.Bay.Sts.B.). With its single-axle drive, the locomotive set new standards in railroad operation as early as 1914 and proved itself particularly well on the demanding lines in southern Germany. Thanks to the modern sound and light functions, this model not only offers historical precision, but also an incomparable model railroad experience.

Historical innovation: The birth of the modern electric locomotive

In 1912, the Royal Bavarian State Railway initiated the electrification of important lines. Among the first 17 electric locomotives ordered were two revolutionary machines: the EG 4 X 1/1, later known as the EG4 20202. These locomotives differed fundamentally from the electric locomotives with rod drive that were common at the time. Instead, they relied on single-axle drive, with each driving axle having its own electric motor - a concept that later became the standard.

The two machines were manufactured by Krauss for the mechanical part and Bergmanns Elektrische Werke for the electrical part and delivered in 1914 and 1915. Stationed in Freilassing, they mastered the demanding route between Freilassing and Berchtesgaden with ease. Their maximum tractive effort was an impressive 9300 kg, and the locomotives reached a top speed of 50 km/h.

Although their technology was ahead of its time, they remained unique due to the lack of replicas. After the First World War, they continued to be used by the Reichsbahn and were not retired from active service until 1937 and 1941.

Model making at the highest level

The attention to detail in the realization of the EG4 20202 makes this model a masterpiece. It has intricate details such as finely engraved fan grilles, free-standing steps and handrails as well as faithfully reproduced roof lines and insulators. The interior lighting and the high-quality locomotive sound round off the authentic driving experience and make the locomotive a highlight on any model railway layout.

Era I - A look at early railroad history

Era I represents the beginnings of modern railroad technology. With its authentic paintwork and precise printing, the Brawa 70179 brings the atmosphere of this era to your layout. The road number 20202 refers to its historical affiliation with the K.Bay.Sts.B., before the locomotive was later transferred to the Deutsche Reichsbahn.

Conclusion: A model for discerning collectors and technology enthusiasts

The Brawa 70179 H0 electric locomotive EG4 20202 combines technological innovation and historical precision in perfect harmony. Its powerful locomotive sound, fine details and robust workmanship make it the perfect choice for model railroaders who value authenticity and quality.
