The Brawa 70180 H0 electric locomotive E73 01 is a detailed replica of one of the most innovative electric locomotives in early railroad history. As early as 1912, the Royal Bavarian State Railways began to electrify lines and ordered innovative locomotives, including the EG 4 X 1/1, later known as the E73. The locomotives were built in 1914 and 1915 by Krauss (technical part) and Bergmanns Elektrische Werke (electrical part) and easily mastered the steep routes between Freilassing and Berchtesgaden. Despite their limited distribution, the locomotives proved to be excellent in operation. However, their breakthrough in widespread use failed to materialize - they were simply too far ahead of their time.
In 1926, the locomotives were incorporated into the E73 class of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DRG) and continued to prove their efficiency. In addition to their main line, they were also used in shunting service in Salzburg. The two locomotives were not taken out of service until 1937 and 1941, although one locomotive remained in service for many years as a snow plow.
