Description

Electric locomotive E73 01, DRG, Era II - Historic electric locomotive with innovative technology

The E73 01 is one of the most extraordinary electric locomotives in early railroad history. As one of the first machines with single-axle drive, it marked a technical milestone that was far ahead of its time. With its characteristic design and precise reproduction, this model from BRAWA brings the fascination of early electric traction to life for your H0 model railroad. The combination of high-quality technology, detailed printing and modern AC sound makes this locomotive a highlight of any Era II layout.

Information about the prototype - The pioneers of electromobility

In 1912, the Royal Bavarian State Railways began electrifying the first lines. Two locomotives were developed that differed fundamentally from the previous electric locomotives: instead of the usual rod drive, they were equipped with a single-axle drive in which each driving axle had its own electric motor. This design, which is standard today, was revolutionary at the time.

The machines were delivered in 1914 and 1915 by Krauss (technical vehicle part) and Bergmanns Elektrische Werke (electrical part) and stationed in Freilassing. They were intended for use on the steep Freilassing-Berchtesgaden line and could provide a maximum tractive force of 9300 kg with a total weight of 56 tons. The maximum speed was set at 50 km/h.

After the First World War, the Deutsche Reichsbahn, Bavarian Group Administration, took over the locomotives, which were operated as EG 1 from 1923 and as class E 73 from 1926. In addition to their main line, they were also used in shunting service in Salzburg. They were not taken out of service until 1937 and 1941, although one of the locomotives was still used as a snow plow for many years.

Detailed realization - perfection in H0 gauge

The model of the E73 01 in H0 gauge impresses with numerous intricate details that will delight even the most demanding model railroader. The finely engraved fan grilles, the true-to-original roof lines and insulators as well as the specially attached sand pipes make this model a masterpiece of the art of model making.

Perfect for Era II layouts

The E73 01 is ideal for Era II layouts depicting the German Reichsbahn between 1920 and 1950. In combination with matching passenger and freight cars, an authentic train composition is created that reflects the charm and technology of early electric traction.

Conclusion - A real collector's item with sound

The electric locomotive E73 01 is not only a technical rarity, but also a piece of railroad history. Its unique single-axle drive and revolutionary technology make it an indispensable model for fans of historic electric locomotives. Thanks to its high-quality workmanship, detailed printing and modern AC sound, this model is a real asset to any model railway collection.
