Description

Busch 52731 H0 VW 181 Johanniter Hamburg – Classic Courier Van in Operational Livery

With the Busch 52731, Busch introduces a nostalgic emergency vehicle from Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Hamburg in H0 scale: the VW 181, also known as the “courier van.” This beige-colored model with subtle Johanniter lettering evokes a time when rugged simplicity and reliability defined emergency medical services. Whether as a liaison vehicle, dispatch vehicle, or light transporter—the VW 181 was a favorite among aid organizations.

The VW 181—Versatile and Tried-and-True

The VW Type 181 was originally developed as a multipurpose vehicle for the military and government agencies, but it quickly proved its worth in the civilian sector as well—especially among aid organizations such as the Johanniter. Its simple, open design and off-road capability made it ideal for tasks in the field or at large events. The model by Busch faithfully reproduces this historic purpose in miniature format.

Model Craftsmanship and Detail

The 1:87-scale VW 181 is made of high-quality plastic and features all the characteristic traits of the original: angular shape, open wheel wells, simple lighting, and a flat body structure. The beige paint scheme, featuring the Johanniter logo and the city of Hamburg’s lettering, is neatly applied and immediately identifies the model as an emergency vehicle.

Ideal for historical rescue scenes

Whether as part of an emergency services convoy, during an urban drill, or parked on the grounds of a historic fire station—the VW 181 adds an authentic detail with historical significance to any model railroad layout. Collectors of classic emergency vehicles, in particular, will find this model truly satisfying.
