With the Busch 8891 TT Plattenbau WBS 70, Busch brings an iconic piece of GDR architectural history to your model railway layout. The so-called "Platten" stands for the standardized housing construction of the GDR, which was characterized by the WBS 70 housing series from 1970 onwards. This detailed model enables the authentic representation of urban scenarios of the GDR era and at the same time offers variable design possibilities through extensions and lighting options.
The WBS 70 housing series was developed to meet the increasing demand for housing in the GDR efficiently and cost-effectively. The standardized concrete slabs made it possible to construct residential buildings with flexible floor plans quickly and efficiently. These buildings shaped the cityscape of many GDR cities and are still preserved in numerous cities today. Some of these building ensembles are now listed buildings and are regarded as architectural witnesses to an important era of urban development.
The Busch company is known for its high-quality and detailed model kits. With the WBS 70 prefabricated building, Busch offers a model that perfectly captures the typical charm and functionality of these buildings. The kit is made from precisely cut and colored parts that allow easy assembly and guarantee an authentic representation of the prototype.
The WBS 70 model can be individually adapted and extended. With the separately available TT 8892 extension, additional storeys can be added to create taller buildings. This makes it possible to create apartment blocks of different sizes and to flexibly design the cityscape of your model railway layout. In addition, the building can be illuminated with Busch LEDs 5998 to create a realistic evening and night scene.
The Busch 8891 TT panel building kit is designed to be easy to assemble. A stable, plug-in substructure forms the base, which is covered with the pre-cut and colored parts. All that is needed for assembly is a craft knife, model-making glue (e.g. Busch 7599) or all-purpose glue (e.g. UHU® Kraft). This well thought-out design ensures high stability and easy handling, even for less experienced model builders.
The model of the WBS 70 is designed in the typical look of a GDR panel building. The color scheme of the exterior walls and the clearly structured window fronts reflect the characteristic appearance of buildings from this era. The discreet, functional architecture provides a realistic representation of urban scenarios and emphasizes the historical context.
The model has a base area of 144 x 102 mm and a height of 142 mm. These compact dimensions make it ideal for use on TT model railroad layouts. The modular design allows individual adjustment of the building height, which further increases the versatility of the model.
The WBS 70 prefabricated building is ideal for depicting GDR cityscapes or for modern scenarios in which the buildings are still in use. Whether in a residential area, as part of a city center or in a suburban scene - this model brings authenticity and historical depth to your layout.
As the model is made of precisely cut and colored material, it should be handled with care. It is recommended to remove dust regularly with a soft brush. During assembly, care should be taken not to bend or stress the parts excessively in order to avoid damage.
The Busch 8891 TT Plattenbau WBS 70 is a high-quality model kit that faithfully captures the history and architecture of the GDR. With its expansion and lighting options as well as its simple assembly, this model is ideal for model builders who want to depict historical scenarios or modern cityscapes. The WBS 70 is a must for anyone who appreciates authenticity and variety on their model railway layout.
