The agricultural trailer has been produced at the VEB Kraftfahrzeugwerk "Ernst Grube" Werdau since 1969. The abbreviation HW80.11 stands for the two-way tipper body, identical in construction to the HL 80 trailer with road tires. The HW80 was the standard trailer for transporting grain, manure or building materials. The upper side walls could be removed very quickly, allowing the trailer to be adapted to the intended use. From 1984, production was relocated from Werdau to Oranienburg as part of the centrally controlled reorganization of the Grube plant. Trailers of this type are still widely used today and there are several manufacturers who offer agricultural bodies for the HW80 chassis and refurbish existing trailers, such as the agricultural vehicle manufacturer "Conow".
