The spare parts box (ETK) was also used as a superstructure for the L60 in addition to the W50. As these vehicles were built on all-wheel drive chassis, the vehicles were very off-road capable and had a large load volume. In addition to being used as expedition vehicles, the ETK was also exported in significant numbers in the military version in order to generate foreign currency. The vehicles were popular abroad in countries in the Near and Middle East due to the favorable procurement prices. Returns from export orders or vehicles that were not accepted were then also put into normal use and were often used in the construction industry or in agriculture to increase the urgently needed vehicle capacities there.
The history of VEB Minol goes back to the 1920s, but the name was not officially used until 1956 when the company was merged. In addition to the tankers for fuel distribution, flatbed vehicles were also used to collect used oils in barrels. These engine and lubricating oils could be reused after secondary refining.
