The ESU 31082 diesel locomotive 220 053 is a detailed replica of the classic V200 series, here in the Brohtalbahn version and Era VI. This H0 model combines historical precision with modern digital technology and is suitable for both direct current and alternating current systems. With a length over buffers (LüP) of 209.7 mm, numerous lighting effects and synchronized sound, the model is a technical and visual highlight for any model railway layout.
The V200 diesel locomotive series became the icon of the German Federal Railroad (DB) in the 1950s. With its distinctive "V" on the ends and the characteristic aluminum decorative stripes, the V200 shaped the image of the young DB's modern express train service. The locomotives were equipped with 12-cylinder engines that produced 1100 hp and made train speeds of up to 120 km/h possible. The series locomotives were manufactured by Krauss-Maffei and MaK, whereby the MaK versions were recognizable by a flatter front with a more discreet "V". The locomotive is equipped with universal electronics and can easily switch between two-wire and center conductor operation thanks to the plug-in slider and changeover switch. The minimum radius that can be traveled is 360 mm, which means that the model can be used on a wide variety of layout designs.
The model has a classic green paint scheme that is typical of Era VI and authentically reflects the character of the Brohtalbahn private railroad. The striking, flat MaK front and the finely detailed decorative strips make the model a visual highlight. The design is complemented by openwork fan grilles and separately attached grab rails and steps that precisely reproduce the historical appearance of the V200.
