The class 103 is one of Deutsche Bahn's most legendary electric locomotives and embodies speed, performance and prestige at the highest level.

For decades, this locomotive was the flagship of the Bundesbahn's long-distance services. Its elegant design and pulling power made it the prime mover for the high-quality TEE and IC trains. It also remains a technical highlight in museum operation - and with this model now also on your layout. Model with high-end technology

The ESU 31176 combines the latest digital technology with high-quality materials. The body and chassis are made entirely of metal and provide a solid basis for a stable and durable model. The locomotive is driven by a powerful five-pole ESU motor with two balanced flywheel masses. Power is transmitted to three axles via cardan and worm drives - four traction tires ensure optimum tractive power.

A special highlight are the pantographs that can be raised and lowered individually in digital mode and the extensive LED lighting with functions such as engine room lighting, driver's cab and driver's desk lighting, light change in white/red and brake sparks when braking sharply. The LokSound 5 decoder produces true-to-original sounds of the class 103, including curve-controlled sounds and braking noises shortly before stopping. The locomotive is suitable for two-wire and center conductor operation and automatically logs on to RailComPlus® and mfx® control centers.
