The ESU 31430 KG275 diesel locomotive in H0 is a highlight of Era IV in the Regentalbahn version. This detailed model combines the historical features of the two-axle diesel-hydraulic locomotives from Deutz with the latest digital technology for use on DC and AC systems. Thanks to the numerous functions and meticulously implemented details, every model railway layout is enriched and enhanced by an authentic element.
The KG 230 B and its further developments are among the most robust diesel locomotives in their class and were built by Deutz from 1962 for heavy shunting and works traffic. The two-axle diesel-hydraulic locomotive was specially designed for the requirements of industrial companies and port logistics. The powerful 12-cylinder Deutz A12L714 engine produced an output of 230 hp at 2000 rpm and enabled the locomotive to be adapted to various top speeds between 20 and 30 km/h - depending on the specific requirements of the areas of use. The KG 230 B series was very popular with companies in Europe and was supplied to numerous private and industrial operators, such as BASF, RAG, Thyssen, VW and Ford. The locomotives have earned an excellent reputation due to their easy maintenance and high stability and are still in use by many owners today.
The ESU KG275 impresses with an excellent replica of the original. With an all-metal frame and detailed stems, the model is stable and robust. The openwork fan grilles, finely detailed steps and free-standing grab rails and spring buffers give the model a high level of detail. The driver's cab has a multi-colored design and includes a train driver figure, which makes the model appear lively and authentic. Equipped with a LokSound 5 micro decoder, the KG275 supports all common digital protocols such as DCC, Motorola®, M4 and Selectrix® and, thanks to the RailComPlus® function, can register independently with compatible command stations. The powerful loudspeakers provide authentic sound, based on the original sounds of the 12-cylinder Deutz engines. A synchronized smoke generator further enhances the realistic effect. The model is also equipped with a PowerPack storage capacitor, which guarantees an uninterrupted power supply and thus ensures smooth operation on your system.
The locomotive offers extensive lighting options, including direction-dependent light changes, a headlamp signal that can be switched off as well as shunting, driver's cab and driver's desk lighting. These functions can be switched depending on the operating situation and contribute to the realistic representation of shunting operations. Other features such as brake sparks when braking sharply and chassis lighting make the KG275 the perfect model for discerning collectors and model railroaders.
