With the ESU 31652 H0 steam locomotive 80 018, you can bring an authentic piece of railroad history from Era II to your model railroad layout. This locomotive represents the condition around 1936 - a time when the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) was striving for standardized and powerful shunting locomotives. The class 80 was an important part of the standard locomotive program. It was developed to efficiently handle the heavy shunting work at large stations.
The locomotives of this series impressed with their compact design, easy maintenance and high tractive power. The 80 018 is a typical example of this robust design: three coupled axles, a powerful boiler and a well thought-out design made it a reliable workhorse. Even though its time in active service was limited, it was one of the defining locomotives of the 1930s in Germany.
The 80 018 model from ESU combines classic design with ultra-modern digital technology. The black color scheme and finely detailed design perfectly reflect the historical condition. Thanks to universal electronics for DC and AC operation, the locomotive can be used flexibly. A bell-shaped armature motor with flywheel mass ensures smooth operation. The powerful double smoke generator produces realistic steam in sync with the locomotive sound - a special highlight for any diorama.
Equipped with a LokSound 5 decoder, it can be used in DCC, Motorola®, M4 and Selectrix® systems. The locomotive can also automatically register with mfx and RailComPlus® command stations. The digitally switchable couplings, LED light change, interior lighting and chassis lighting ensure a realistic driving experience. Accessories such as a pipette for filling the smoke generator and etched signs for self-assembly are also included.
