The ESU 36070 H0 Bnrdzf 483.1 control car in the GfF version from Era VI is a detailed model that makes an impressive addition to any H0 layout. This cab control car, based on the "Silberlingen" of the German Federal Railroad (DB), is equipped with numerous details true to the original and brings the historical significance and modern use of this type of car to the model railroad layout. The model is designed for direct current operation, but can easily be converted for alternating current systems by replacing the wheel sets (item number MBS173138).
The n-cars, also known as "Silberlinge", were originally procured by the Deutsche Bundesbahn between 1959 and 1977 for local and long-distance services. The name "Silberlinge" originated from the characteristic uncoated aluminum outer skin with the peacock eye-like pattern. By dispensing with paintwork, this series was around two tons lighter than its predecessors. These coaches proved to be particularly versatile and were modernized several times over the decades. From the 1990s onwards, some driving trailers were given the so-called "Wittenberg head" and a new paint job in modern color schemes such as mint turquoise-light grey or traffic red. The progressive modernization made the n-cars an integral part of German local transport, and many are still in use today.
The model of the Bnrdzf 483.1 driving trailer from ESU impresses with a multitude of true-to-original details and functions. The multi-colored interior with separately inserted bench seats and the reproduced bogies with block or disc brakes bring the technical precision of the prototype to the model railway layout. The ESU 36070 control car is equipped with DC wheelsets as standard. However, the wheel set can easily be replaced with the separately available AC wheel set (item number MBS173138) for operation on AC systems. The control car is suitable for a minimum passable radius of 360 mm and can therefore be used flexibly in various system layouts. The link-guided bracket coupling in the standard shaft ensures a stable connection with other wagons.
