The ESU 36508 H0 Bnrdzf483.1 cab control car presents the "Silberling" in an authentic version of the Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG) from Era V. This model combines the striking aesthetics of the Silberling with modern features and is ideal for use in local and regional train sets. Equipped with DC wheelsets, the model can be converted for operation on AC systems using the separately available AC wheelsets (item number MBS173138). The "Silberlinge", officially known as n-cars, were developed by the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) between 1959 and 1977 for use in local and regional transport. They owe their nickname to the brushed, unpainted aluminum outer skin with its characteristic peacock's eye pattern. This design reduced the weight by around two tons and made the coaches versatile and efficient. The original equipment with an axle generator initially limited the speed to 120 km/h, but later variants reached up to 140 km/h with optimized axle generators.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Deutsche Bahn modernized many of these carriages and painted them in new colour schemes such as mint turquoise-light grey and traffic red to match the modern corporate design. From 1993, the driving trailers were given the distinctive driver's cab design of the "Wittenberg head". Some of these versatile coaches are still in use today and reflect the rich history of German local transport.

This means that the Bnrdzf483.1 driving trailer can be operated on both DC and AC systems, which increases its flexibility and makes it suitable for different system layouts.
