Description

The ECoSDetector Extension Module is intended for setting up an external track diagram control panel (GBS) with the help of the ECoSDetector module, which is then connected to the ECoS. A track diagram control panel is indispensable for many model railroaders for convenient switching of routes, particularly in (shunting) stations, especially if the command station is located further away.

In this context, ESU's philosophy is not to sell you a complete, commercial track diagram control panel. Rather, with our solution approach you can either build your control panel completely yourself or use commercially available systems (e.g. Erbert®).

The LEDs installed there to illuminate track occupied sections or display the points / signal positions are switched appropriately by the ECoS. If you also want to switch your points and signals directly with the track diagram control panel, external buttons can be arranged. The switch position is read by the input channels of the ECoSDetector module and forwarded to the ECoS for evaluation. The corresponding commands are then executed there. For the GBS, you therefore need inputs for the buttons (these are provided by the ECoSDetector) as well as outputs for the illumination of the LEDs (these are provided by the ECoSDetector Extension).

The ECoSDetector Extension module is connected to the side of the ECoSDetector. The extension receives all commands via this. The extension is not functional without the ECoSDetector.

Outputs:

Each of the 32 outputs can be loaded with a maximum of 100mA. As these are designed as "open collectors", you can connect either incandescent lamps or LEDs with series resistors directly to them. However, the total current of all outputs must not exceed 1.5A. Any DC or AC voltage transformer can be used for the supply. The transistor outputs of the ECoSDetector Extension Module can be easily set to the desired operating mode on your ECoS.
