In the 1970s, the streamlined WRügh type apron dining car of the Deutsche Bundesbahn was given a stylish transformation. Originally introduced by the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft, this carriage was characterized by its aerodynamic shape with flush windows and doors.

The characteristic design with side walls extending beyond the ends of the carriages between the bogies reduced air resistance. The Era IV version of the dining car in ocean blue and beige livery gave it an additional aesthetic sophistication that reflected the elegant style of the era.
