Are you looking for an authentic passenger train set for your N-gauge model railroad layout that reflects the typical rail traffic of the Deutsche Bundesbahn in the 1950s? The Fleischmann 6260114 DB Passenger Train Set brings the special atmosphere of the early Bundesbahn era to your layout and depicts a characteristic Krefeld passenger train as it operated in 1954–55.
The set consists of a pair of converted cars of the BC3yg and C3yg classes, as well as two three-axle compartment cars of the C3 class. This interesting combination pairs older passenger cars with the converted cars that were newly introduced at the time, enabling a particularly prototypical representation of passenger service during Era III.
In the early 1950s, passenger service on the Deutsche Bundesbahn was undergoing a period of transition. Numerous older passenger cars from the Länderbahn and Reichsbahn eras remained in daily service, while the Bundesbahn increasingly put modernized rolling stock into service.
Starting in 1954, the first three-axle converted cars of the 3yg class were delivered. These were created by converting older passenger cars and were intended to offer passengers a more modern level of travel comfort.
Since there were initially not enough converted cars available, many passenger trains consisted of a mix of older compartment cars and new converted cars. Such varied train compositions were particularly common on the main lines in the Krefeld area.
The Fleischmann 6260114 car set captures precisely this interesting transitional period. The pair of converted cars, BC3yg and C3yg, represents the modernization of passenger rail service, while the two C3-class compartment cars evoke the traditional car design of earlier railway eras.
The combination of different car types creates a varied appearance and makes the passenger train an attractive addition to historic N-gauge layouts.
All cars are equipped with interior furnishings. This creates a realistic impression of passenger travel from that era, even when viewed through the car windows.
The Fleischmann passenger cars feature NEM 355 coupler sockets with close-coupling kinematics. This allows the cars to be integrated into compatible historic passenger trains.
With a total length over buffers of 324 mm, the set provides an interesting foundation for recreating a typical Bundesbahn passenger train from Era III.
Thanks to the variety of car types, the set is suitable both for use on a historical model railroad layout and as an addition to a collection of classic DB passenger cars.
The Fleischmann 6260114 passenger train set can be combined particularly realistically with a Class 62 steam locomotive. In the early 1950s, the Deutsche Bundesbahn had consolidated all six locomotives of this class at the Krefeld depot.
From there, the powerful tender steam locomotives were deployed in passenger service on main lines. The Fleischmann BR 62 005, with part numbers 7160040 and 7170040, is therefore a particularly suitable locomotive for this historic set.
With the complementary Fleischmann Car Set 6260115, you can further extend the typical Krefeld passenger train and recreate it even more realistically.
Bring the classic passenger rail service of the 1950s to your model railroad layout! Get the Fleischmann 6260114 Deutsche Bundesbahn Passenger Train Set and expand your N-gauge collection with a characteristic train set from Era III.
