Fleischmann steam locomotive 01 2226-7 DR

The two-cylinder engines of the 01 series are considered to be the first express locomotives built according to the standardized construction program. The first construction lots were equipped with leading wheels with a diameter of 800 mm and approved for 120 km/h. From 01 102 onwards, leading wheels with a diameter of 1,000 mm and reinforced brakes were used, allowing the maximum permitted speed to be increased to 130 km/h. The DR retained the original design with the large Wagner wind deflectors and the air and feed pumps in the smokebox niches after the Second World War.After the war, locomotive 01 226 remained with the railroad company of the German Democratic Republic (Deutsche Reichsbahn). After conversion to the EDP numbering plan, the locomotive was renumbered 01 2226-7 and was in service until 1973.
