The model is based on the locomotive 52 5354-7, which underwent a general repair (GR) at the Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk (RAW) Stendal after the Second World War. The locomotive retained its original road number and continued to be used in regular railroad service.
The class 52 was one of the best-known German steam locomotives and was developed during the Second World War as a "war locomotive". After the war, many of these locomotives continued to be used, and from 1959 RAW Stendal carried out general repairs to restore the locomotives to operational condition.
