With the 1753 electric locomotive, Fleischmann is bringing a particularly authentic representative of the Dutch 1700 series to the model tracks. This model in N scale impresses with its technical finesse, detailed design and high degree of faithfulness to the original. The class 1700 was a defining element of Dutch passenger transportation in the 1990s and 2000s - now also available as a high-quality sound model for the model railway layout.
The electric locomotive 1753 from Fleischmann bears the item number 732174 and is designed for N gauge. It belongs to Era V and represents a vehicle of the Dutch state railroad NS. With a length of 109 mm, it is compact and yet powerful. Four axles are driven, which together with the integrated flywheel mass ensures excellent driving characteristics. The model can be controlled digitally and has a Next18 interface as well as a factory-fitted sound decoder.
The locomotive is presented in the typical yellow color scheme of the NS of the 1990s. The printing is razor-sharp and very finely executed. Particularly striking is the absence of a town emblem, which was common on many locomotives of this series - a detail that Fleischmann has implemented in a prototypical manner. The LED lighting with direction-dependent head and tail lights underlines the modern appearance of the model.
Equipped with a digital Next18 decoder and powerful sound module, the locomotive offers a realistic operating sound. The digital control system enables precise driving maneuvers and individual lighting functions. The locomotive can also easily negotiate small radii from 192 mm. Coupling is via the NEM 355 shaft with close-coupling kinematics, which ensures close car spacing and operational safety at the same time.
The NS 1700 series was created in the early 1990s as a modernized further development of the successful 1600 series. 81 machines of this series were delivered between 1991 and 1994. They were equipped with a new braking system, advanced electronics and a modern train protection system. Locomotive 1753 was built by Alsthom in 1993 and was initially used for double-decker trains. It later pulled domestic intercity trains as well as international connections such as the IC Amsterdam - Berlin or the IC The Hague - Venlo.
The locomotive is compatible with all common N-gauge track systems and can be easily integrated into modern layouts thanks to its digital equipment. Thanks to the standardized interface and coupler, it can be universally combined with cars from Dutch or international passenger service - especially suitable for Intercity sets from Era V.
