Fleischmann diesel locomotive 2048 012-5 ÖBB

The introduction of the new Austro-Takt in June 1991 caused a shortage of diesel locomotives with electric train heating at ÖBB. In order to free up the 2043 and 2143 series for passenger train service, 34 locomotives of the DB 211 series were procured. The locomotives remotorized with a Caterpilar engine were used for shunting and freight train service on the Wels, Vienna North, Amstetten and Krems train haulage lines.
