The Fleischmann 7370034 brings the DB AG diesel locomotive 218 406-7 in the current retro design with full sound equipment to your N-gauge layout. Since September 2023, this locomotive has been back in service after a serious accident and extensive repairs - in an oriental red livery with bib, reminiscent of the legendary Bundesbahn times. Now available as a digitally equipped model with 16-bit sound, LED lighting and numerous functions.

A unique model with history

Built in 1976 by Friedrich Krupp in Essen, the 218 406 began its service life in Kempten. After being stationed in Regensburg, Stendal, Halberstadt and Ulm, it suffered fire damage in Langenargen on Lake Constance in 2017. She returned in 2023 - fully refurbished - and was repainted in the historic oriental red color scheme with bib. Today, it is back in active scheduled service and delights railroad fans as a "rolling memory" of times gone by.

Model technology with digital highlights

The model has a digital decoder in accordance with the Next18 standard and impressive sound output in 16-bit quality. The direction-dependent headlights (3x white / 2x red) can be switched digitally, as can the cab lighting. The LED technology ensures bright, realistic illumination. Additional lighting functions are also integrated and can be controlled via the digital central unit. The Z21 driver's cab is available for a realistic control experience.

Driving behavior and attention to detail for the highest demands

Four axles are driven, two of which have traction tires. A flywheel mass ensures smooth running movements even at low speeds. The locomotive has finely detailed bogies with Megi rubber suspension, a correctly reproduced roof design and attached rail scrapers. The length over buffers is 102 mm. With an NEM 355 coupling shaft and close coupling kinematics, it is ideal for use on tight radii from 192 mm.
