Fleischmann 7560043 N electric locomotive 112 172-2, DB, Ep. IV-V Product Details

Description

Fleischmann 7560043 N-gauge electric locomotive 112 172-2, DB, Era IV-V: Express locomotive in striking oriental red livery

The Fleischmann 7560043 N scale electric locomotive 112 172-2 is a faithful reproduction of the improved express locomotive of the German Federal Railroad. With its striking oriental red paintwork and characteristic halogen lamps, this model represents the transitional period between eras IV and V.

The prototype: The class 112.1 - Efficient express locomotive

The class 112.1 was procured jointly by the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) and the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) from 1992. As a further development of the class 112.0, this locomotive was characterized by greater efficiency and modernized technology. The most noticeable change compared to the predecessor series was the merging of the large head and tail lights into smaller, combined halogen lamps.

With an output of 4,000 kW and a maximum speed of 160 km/h, the class 112.1 locomotives were designed for use in front of express trains. They were used throughout Germany in front of intercity trains, regional express trains and special passenger trains and were an integral part of modern rail transportation.

Era IV-V: Modernization and unity

Era IV-V (1985-2007) was a time of standardization and modernization of rail transport in Germany. With the introduction of new colour concepts such as orient red and the joint procurement of locomotives by DB and DR, the BR 112.1 symbolizes the progress of this era.

Technical features and equipment

The model of the 112 172-2 is produced in a finely detailed design and impresses with its prototypical orient red paint scheme with bib. The light changes in red and white depending on the direction of travel and is implemented using long-life LEDs. An NEM651 interface allows retrofitting with digital technology.

The locomotive is designed for operation on 2-conductor direct current systems (DC). With a length over buffers (LüP) of 104 mm and a minimum radius of 192 mm, it is ideal for use on N-gauge layouts. Thanks to the robust drive, the model offers excellent running characteristics, even on tight radii.

Design and workmanship

The locomotive impresses with its precise reproduction of the 112.1 series. The striking oriental red paintwork with bib and the intricate details make the model a real eye-catcher. The high-quality workmanship and prototypical implementation guarantee a realistic representation on your model railway layout.

Care and maintenance

The locomotive is low-maintenance, but should be regularly cleaned of dust and dirt. The axles and moving parts can be lightly oiled to ensure optimum functionality. The LED lighting and electronics are durable, but should be protected from moisture. Retrofitting a digital decoder via the NEM651 interface is possible without any problems.

Conclusion and purchase recommendation

The Fleischmann 7560043 N-gauge electric locomotive 112 172-2 is a high-quality model that authentically represents the modern technology and elegant design of the 112.1 series. With its detailed design, prototypical paintwork and the option of digitalization, this locomotive is a must for model railway enthusiasts who want to realistically represent the transition period between eras IV and V on their layout.
