Description

Fleischmann 7560067 N Electric Locomotive 1044 282 ÖBB Ep. V

Are you looking for an extraordinary electric locomotive for your N-gauge model railroad layout that combines Austrian railway history with a particularly colorful design? The Fleischmann 7560067 Electric Locomotive 1044 282 from the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) captivates with its authentic “Children’s Art Locomotive” design and pays homage to a unique collaborative project between ÖBB, ORF Confetti-TiVi, and ROCO.

As an Era V model, this electric locomotive is a real eye-catcher on any model railroad layout. The two differently designed sides of the locomotive, the imaginative children’s drawings, and the delicate pantographs give the ÖBB 1044 282 an unmistakable character.

Fleischmann ÖBB 1044 282 – the famous “Children’s Art Locomotive”

For many years, the 1044 series electric locomotives were among the most important all-purpose locomotives of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). They were used in both high-quality passenger service and to haul freight trains, and they shaped the appearance of Austrian rail transport for several decades.

Locomotive 1044 282-0 has a particularly extraordinary history. In the fall of 1998, the ÖBB, together with ORF Confetti-TiVi and ROCO, organized a drawing contest under the motto “Riding the Railroad – Preserving Nature.”

Children up to the age of twelve were invited to express their ideas on this theme through art. The response was impressive: More than 60,000 children from all over Austria participated in the contest.

Two winners were ultimately selected from the numerous entries. Five-year-old Nino Zorzi from Wiener Neudorf and twelve-year-old Christian Jaritz from Graz saw their drawings featured on a real electric locomotive.

Two differently designed locomotive sides as a special highlight

The winning drawings were greatly enlarged and applied using vinyl wrap technology to both sides of the ÖBB 1044 282-0. This gave the locomotive two completely different and particularly colorful sides.

The cabs were also incorporated into the unique design concept. They were adorned with motifs of the popular ORF “Confetti TiVi” characters “Rolf Rüdiger” and “Confetti.”

The prototype was in regular railway service in Austria and Germany until early 2000. With its eye-catching design, the children’s art locomotive playfully drew attention to the connection between environmentally friendly rail travel and nature conservation.

The Fleischmann 7560067 captures this special prototype and brings the authentic “Kinder-Kunst” design to your model railroad layout in 1:160 scale.

Delicate pantographs and distinctive ÖBB design

A key feature of the model is the authentic reproduction of the locomotive’s unique design. The two differently designed sides give the electric locomotive a high degree of recognizability and make it an interesting collector’s item.

Delicate pantographs complement the characteristic design of the Class 1044 and underscore the prototype-accurate overall impression.

Whether at the head of an Austrian express train, in international passenger service, or as a special locomotive in a collection of extraordinary promotional and special-edition locomotives—the Kinder-Kunst-Lok offers a wide range of possibilities for varied model railroad operation.

Five-pole motor and Next18 digital interface

The Fleischmann 7560067 is equipped with a five-pole motor and a flywheel. This combination ensures smooth running and provides pleasant handling characteristics on the N-gauge model railroad layout.

Power is transmitted to all four axles. One axle is fitted with traction tires, which enhance the electric locomotive’s pulling power.

The headlights and taillights, which change direction depending on the direction of travel, are LED-based and enhance the authentic appearance while the locomotive is in motion.

The locomotive features a Next18 digital interface for future digitalization, allowing it to be retrofitted with a compatible digital decoder.

With a length over the buffers of 100 mm and a minimum negotiable radius of 192 mm, the ÖBB 1044 282 is also suitable for more compact N-gauge model railroad layouts.

A Special Collector’s Model from Era V

The Fleischmann Children’s Art Locomotive is an attractive addition for model railroaders who collect Austrian railway vehicles from Era V or wish to recreate international passenger rail service from the late 1990s.

Especially when combined with contemporary ÖBB passenger cars, you can create harmonious train formations. Even as a single model in a display case, its unique design—with two distinct locomotive sides—is sure to attract attention.

Bring a piece of colorful Austrian railway history to your model railroad layout! Get the Fleischmann 7560067 1044 282 electric locomotive in the authentic “Kinder-Kunst-Lok” design and expand your N-gauge collection with an extraordinary ÖBB special-edition locomotive from Era V.
