With the Fleischmann 7560071 E 94 003, the manufacturer is bringing a powerful model of the legendary "German Crocodile Locomotive" to N scale. This locomotive was originally procured by the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DRG) for use in front of heavy freight trains on the Brenner Pass - a piece of locomotive history from Era II that impresses with its many fine details.
The model shows the E 94 003 in the condition of the late 1930s, with fine decorative lines, white wheel tires and free-standing grab irons on the front ends - a particularly elegant appearance for a pure freight locomotive. The heavy six-axle design was classified as important for the war effort, which meant that the locomotive could be procured despite the tight resource situation. A total of 285 locomotives were planned, but only 145 were delivered by the end of the war.
The model is equipped with an NEM 651 interface for digital retrofitting. Two of the four driven axles are equipped with traction tires, which increases the tractive power. An integrated flywheel mass ensures smooth running characteristics, even at slow speeds. The 2 headlights with LED technology change depending on the direction of travel and give the model a harmonious appearance.
The locomotive is equipped with an NEM 355 coupling shaft including close coupling kinematics and runs safely on radii from 192 mm. With a clearance of 116 mm, it is suitable for typical pre-war train sets - whether in pure freight service or in museum operation on Era II layouts.
The Fleischmann 7560071 E 94 003 is now available in the model railroad store - a must for friends of historic electric locomotives and fans of Era II.
