The Fleischmann 7570034 N-gauge electric locomotive 103 233-3 is a detailed replica of the legendary express train locomotive of Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG). With its extended driver's cab, an eye-catching special paint scheme in traffic red and digital sound functions, this model combines the elegance and performance of the class 103 with the latest technology for Era V.
The class 103, originally developed as the E 03, was introduced in the mid-1960s and was long regarded as the most powerful electric locomotive of the German Federal Railroad. With an output of 10,000 hp and a top speed of 200 km/h, it was intended for heavy express train services. Between 1970 and 1974, a total of 145 series locomotives were put into service.
The 103 233-3 is one of the last 30 locomotives to be equipped with an enlarged driver's cab, which offers more space and comfort for the locomotive crew. The special livery in traffic red with a contrasting frame was realized at the request of many fans and sponsored by the ROCO company. The light functions, including headlights and marker lights, can be controlled digitally. The headlights can be switched off completely or partially with the help of contact plates. The locomotive is equipped with an NEM651 interface that allows easy retrofitting or adaptation. With a length over buffers (LüP) of 126 mm and a minimum radius of 192 mm, it is ideal for N-gauge layouts.
