The Fleischmann 7570062 N-gauge electric locomotive BR 120.1 from Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG) is a detailed replica of one of the most innovative locomotives of its time. This model combines historical significance and state-of-the-art digital technology with a high-quality sound decoder and switchable light functions to provide a realistic and impressive driving experience.
The 120 series revolutionized electric locomotive construction with the introduction of three-phase AC drive technology. From 1987, the series 120.1 locomotives were delivered, which were further developed compared to the pre-series with changes such as roof lines, sandboxes and buffer beams. The 120 105 locomotive represents this technical masterpiece and is a prime example of the modern aesthetics of DB AG in Era VI in its traffic red livery.
The class 120.1 was versatile and pulled both fast passenger trains and heavy freight trains. Its advanced technology and reliability made it one of the most important locomotives in German rail transport.
Era VI (from 2007) stands for the use of modern, efficient locomotives and the introduction of new color concepts. The traffic red livery of DB AG is a symbol of this era. The 120 105 locomotive combines advanced technology with modern design and reflects the high standards of today's railroad industry.
The BR 120.1 model is a completely new design and offers numerous technical highlights. The integrated sound decoder produces realistic operating sounds, including starting, braking and signal sounds. In digital operation, the headlights and marker lights as well as the cab lighting can be switched individually. The light changes in red and white depending on the direction of travel and is realized by long-life LEDs.
The model is designed for operation on 2-wire direct current systems (DC) and is equipped with a Next18 interface for simple digitalization. The precise drive ensures excellent running characteristics, even on tight radii from 192 mm. With a length over buffers (LüP) of 120 mm, the locomotive is ideal for modern N-gauge layouts.
The locomotive impresses with its prototypical implementation in traffic red paintwork. The filigree design of the pantographs, the detailed body elements and the separately attached plug-in parts make this model a real highlight. The high-quality printing and precise workmanship underline the quality of this new design.
The model requires little maintenance, but should be cleaned regularly to remove dust and dirt. The axles and moving parts can be lightly oiled to ensure smooth operation. The LED lighting and electronics are durable, but should be protected from moisture. Thanks to the Next18 interface, retrofitting or replacing a digital decoder is straightforward.
The Fleischmann 7570062 N-gauge electric locomotive BR 120.1 with DC sound is an impressive model that combines state-of-the-art technology and historical significance. With its high-quality sound decoder, switchable light functions and detailed design, it is a must-have for all model railroaders who want a realistic representation of Era VI on their layout.
