About the model: The 4-piece F 38 "Hans Sachs" long distance train set consists of express train cars in the German Federal Railroad version and is from Era III. It includes 3 type UIC-X express train cars (class Aüm) and a type WR4ü-38 dining car. They have separate attached plug-in parts and are constructed with prototypical buffer height. They also have interior details and are prepared for retrofitting interior lighting.

About the prototype: Starting in 1952, the German Federal Railroad put the express train cars designated as UIC-X cars into service. These cars had a level of comfort that was unheard of in Europe at that time. The UIC-X cars immediately entered high-quality express train service. Very quickly, the existing F-train network (until 1956 with the then first and second car classes, then only the first) was converted to the UIC cars.
