With the BR 248 Vectron Dual Mode, Hobbytrain brings the new generation of hybrid traction systems to the N-scale model railway layout. The locomotive combines the power of a full-fledged diesel engine with the efficiency of the overhead wire – ideal for mixed use on electrified and non-electrified routes. True to the motto: “Where there is an overhead wire, you should use it.” This DB AG model in Intercity livery represents modern mobility in Era VI rail transport.
The locomotive is designed for the two-wire direct current (DC) system and is manufactured in N scale. Power is drawn through all axles, ensuring high operational reliability. It features a Next18 interface (NEM 662) for easy installation of a digital decoder. The white/red headlight change is direction-dependent and can be turned off. For additional options, the model is already prepared for sound.
The locomotive was manufactured with particular attention to detail, taking into account all design differences. The body features the modern lines of the Vectron design, combined with functional styling. The DB AG Intercity-style design brings a breath of fresh air to any train set—whether in freight or passenger service.
With a length over the buffers of 124.80 mm and a minimum radius of 228 mm, the locomotive can be used flexibly on standard N-scale layouts. The LED lighting ensures reliable and maintenance-free illumination. Thanks to the NEM coupler shaft with close-coupling kinematics, the locomotive can be coupled cleanly and realistically with other vehicles.
Included in the package is a DB AG BR 248 Vectron Dual Mode dual-power locomotive in N scale, equipped with LED headlight switching and a Next18 interface.
