Description

Hornby TT3051M TT Class 66 Diesel Locomotive 66727, GBRf, Era VI 'Maritime One'

Are you looking for a modern British diesel locomotive for your TT:120 layout that immediately stands out as a powerful freight locomotive? The Hornby TT3051M TT Class 66 Diesel Locomotive 66727, GBRf, Ep. VI 'Maritime One' brings one of the defining locomotive series of today’s British rail network to the model railroad in an eye-catching GBRf and Maritime livery.

The Class 66 is considered an integral part of modern British rail operations. This model depicts locomotive 66727 in the shared color scheme of GB Railfreight and Maritime and fits perfectly into modern container, freight, and terminal scenes on a TT:120 scale.

Class 66/7 “Maritime One” for modern TT layouts

The model features a heavy die-cast undercarriage, a 5-pole motor, directional lighting, and a detailed reproduction of the 66/7 undercarriage design. Numerous separately applied details—such as the roof exhaust, sand boxes, sand pipes, cab access steps, and handrails—create a highly prototypical overall appearance.

This latest version of the TT Class 66 features an adapted wheel profile to improve running characteristics, as well as a redesigned kinematic coupler arm that facilitates pulling cars through 2nd-radius curves.

Digital Readiness and Expansion Options

The locomotive is equipped with a Next18 DCC interface and is compatible with the HM7000 system. Additionally, space is provided for an HM7000-N18TXS sound decoder and an HM7070 power bank, making the model ready for digital upgrades.

Prototype of Locomotive 66727

Locomotive 66727 is one of five low-emission Class 66 locomotives delivered by EMD in Canada to GB Railfreight in early 2007. Later, the 3,200 hp diesel-electric locomotive received the GBRf Europorte “Maritime” blue paint scheme at Eastleigh Works in Arlington and was christened “Maritime One” on September 16, 2016, at the Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal.

Get the Hornby TT3051M TT Class 66 Diesel Locomotive 66727 “Maritime One” and add a distinctive British freight locomotive—faithfully modeled after the real thing and featuring extensive details—to your modern TT:120 collection.
